    To become a mystery shopper with BARE International, you must be a U.S. resident at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age in other countries. You must also have already established yourself as a professional independent service contractor. You will need to obtain a tax id number by the IRS. This process is easy, fast, and free. By doing this, you will represent that you are working for yourself. You will also be able to market your services to any other mystery shopping companies. Once you have completed this important step, you will need to register your services with BARE International. This way, you will receive notices about upcoming opportunities.

    There are no fees to register your services with BARE. Remember, if you see other organizations requiring a fee to sign up before you can obtain mystery shopping assignments, stay away. You shouldn't pay a fee to work as a mystery shopper.

    Compensation for projects vary widely. Most evaluators can expect to receive between $5 and $35 per project. The compensation varies depending on the scope, difficulty, and time commitment required. You can accept or decline the fee proposed by the client. Fees for services performed and reimbursement for expenses will be distributed by a mailed check or electronic payment around the 16th of the month following the month in which the job was performed, completed, and properly received. The maximum allowable electronic payment is $500, so if you earn more than that you will need receive a mailed paper check. If you are to receive a mailed check, remember to allow time for the postal service to deliver it to you. Fees for services rendered in other countries will be distributed by bank transfer or other method around the 20th of the month following the month in which the job was completed.
