Research Participants Institute?

I saw on a forum this morning someone asking about the site http://www.researchparticipants.com. The post had slipped down to the second page and nobody had responded yet, so I decided to take it upon myself to do a little research about them. Apparently, they conduct projects that pay you to review something and then give your opinion via a survey or some other such method. In addition, you can sometimes do in-person surveys as well as online.

Now, the next question was - "Are they legit?" I wish I had a dollar for everytime I read that! I found a few places on the net where people had dicussed the company a little, but I was having trouble finding anything about whether anyone had been paid. I also found nothing about anybody completing a project and NOT getting paid, which is good! I thought I was out of luck, until I found a thread about Research Participants on get-paid-hwy.com. In the thread I found, someone stated that they had recieved an invitation to participate in some sort of online project and completed it. A month and a half later they posted to let everyone know that they had recieved their check in the mail ($16 for 38 minutes of their time).

My verdict: It's completely free to sign up, I couldn't find a single compliant about them. I'm sure that will change, as some people just cannot be pleased. I'm going to sign up with them; it looks good to me.
