I've Been Busy
This is a personal blog post about my life, and doesn't have a thing to do with working from home, other than to explain why I haven't been working on Home Jobs for Mom much in the past few weeks. I want all of my visitors to know that you are very important to me, and I'm back to work on the website and get new job leads up for you! The first thing that threw my life off track a bit was the discovery that we are expecting another baby! I found this out via a home pregnancy test on April 27th. As this is our fourth child and wasn't exactly planned, you can imagine that it took me a little while to get used to the idea! However, we are very excited about the new arrival now, who is due on January 10, 2010. A couple of weeks later, on Wednesday May 13th, I got a phone call from my Dad's wife. She was calling to let me know that my Dad was in the hospital awaiting surgery to remove a brain tumor. I had no idea he had cancer at all (neither did he until a couple of days before this) so of course I was extremely emotional and worried. The surgery was scheduled for Friday as it was very life threatening by the time they figured out what was wrong with him. Thursday I found out that my Dad had had a CT scan which also revealed lung cancer. Friday, I went to San Antonio with one of my uncles to be with Dad during his surgery. Dad is keeping record of his experience on his website - Sailing Texas if you would like to take a look. There is a link on his home page to direct you to his cancer experience pages. Anyway, it took me quite some time to come to terms with the fact my Dad has cancer and all that entails. Thankfully, the surgery went quite well, and he has recovered from it. He has also had the GammaKnife procedure done on a smaller inoperable tumor deeper in the brain. Dad will start chemo on June 16th for the lung cancer. We are praying for a complete recovery. My children got out of school in the first week of June, so that took a little getting used to. We were finally settling into our routine, even though pregnancy was really taking a toll on me. I can't remember ever being so tired! I was just about ready to really get back into work, when the network interface card on my old Dell computer went out, thereby making it impossible for me to access the Internet. After paying $50 to Dell to tell me I need a new $100 motherboard for my computer, I decided to buy a new computer since the Dell was practically a dinosaur anyway. I bought an HP this time, and so far I like it. I will say that I am extremely impressed with their speed. I ordered the computer on Monday and it arrived on Thursday! I didn't pay extra for quick shipping either. The past couple of days have found me feeling a little more energetic. Thank goodness, because the house was really becoming a huge mess. Anyway, that's the story of my life in the last two months. I'm back and ready to work on Home Jobs for Mom. Thanks for visiting!
