How to Accomplish Your New Years Resolutions

I did not make a New Year resolution for many years because I knew I would end up breaking it. However, last year I made the resolution to stop waiting until later to do things that I have wanted to do. Why wait until later when the future is not a sure thing? Since I was a child, I have always wanted to grow my hair long enough to donate to Locks of Love. In 2007, I did it and I am glad I did.

New Year resolutions are important; the goal is usually to improve ourselves or perhaps our lives in general. Keeping your resolution can be difficult, however, so I have found some tips to help you.

Reflect on the year that has just gone by. Is there anything about it that you wish you could change now? Anticipate the year ahead. How would you like it to be different? Maybe you need to quit smoking, lose some weight or get out of debt.

First, stick to realistic resolutions. The more difficult the resolution, the less likely it is that you will be able to accomplish it. Take time to reflect on what you want to change or improve.

Make a plan and write it down on paper so that you can look it up later. Decide the steps you will need to take to get out of debt, how you will avoid the temptation of that cigarette or dessert. Keep this paper in an easily accessible place so that you may refer to it often.

Tell the people close to you about your new resolution. If you think you will need their help; do not be afraid to ask for it. If you know someone with a similar resolution, discuss how to can be there for each other. This will greatly improve your chances of achieving your resolution.

Reward yourself when you reach milestones in your resolution plan. This will keep you motivated and focused on your goal.

GOOD LUCK & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
